Dear Brodgar user,
Version 2.7 is now available for downloading. It contains a spreadsheet and
data editor and a few small bug fixes. Just download and over-install it
from www.brodgar.com. It should recognize your license codes automatically.
The next version will contain power analysis as described in Zar (1999). It
has been tested during an MSc course with 60 students and it worked ok.
Once help files are ready, we will make it available in version 2.8 (early
November).
The other good news is that Springer-Verlag has accepted our course
material for a 700 page book publication. This book is not about Brodgar
but all methods available in Brodgar will be explained. It has 15 case
study chapters. The book will be called: "The Analysis of Ecological Data"
by Zuur, AF, Ieno, EN and Smith, GM. We still need data for exercises and
illustration of methodology. Your help would be welcome. Unfortunately,
there is no co-authorship involved..but we will acknowledge the source.
The last news is that we have changed the pricing structure of Brodgar. The
reason for this is that a large number of universities and institutes have
recently ordered Brodgar and asked for network licenses and use-at-home
licenses for students. These type of licenses are now available. If you
bought a student, personal or departmental license during the last two
years, we will honor the initial arrangements of free updates and bug fixes
for life. However, free access to new modules is only for 1 year. Please
feel free to ask any questions (e.g on upgrading your current departmental
license to a use-at-home license for staff and students).
Kind regards,
Alain Zuur
