Dear Brodgar users,

A few things:

1. The good news is that our book "Analysis of ecological data" by
Zuur, Ieno and Smith is now finished and it "only" takes 6 months to
publish. All the statistical background of the methods in Brodgar can
be found in this book.

2. The book also has 3 spatial chapters with techniques like
variograms, kriging and GAM models with spatial correlations. We will
add them over the Summer to Brodgar and you will be able to download
and use the updates.

3. Two open courses will be organised in 2007 and registration for
Brodgar users is now open. You will have priority with reserving
places, but don't wait too long. The first course is on GLM and GAM.
The second course is on mixed modelling, GLS, GLMM and GAMM. The
double M is not a mistake! These methods (GLMM and GAMM) can be used
to analyse time series and spatial data. So..this is GAM for time
series or spatial data. GLS allows for different variance components.
The GLMM is for time series or nested data. We expect that this
course will be very popular because (i) most data sets require this
type of analysis and (ii) no other GLMM/GAMM courses design for
biologists are around. All these methods will also be added to
Brodgar during the Summer.

Kind regards,

Alain Zuur
